Robert Spottswood, M.A.
Robert is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Vermont, having graduated in 1991 from the masters program in Counseling Psychology at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. Robert has lived and worked as a counselor in Minnesota, Ontario and Vermont. He is currently director and care provider at North Star Counseling Services in Springfield, Vermont, where he sees children, teens, parents, couples and families.
In 2005 Robert co-authored two books on the theme of trauma and attachment work with children. One book is for therapists (Creating Capacity for Attachment: Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy in the Treatment of Trauma-Attachment Disorders), and the other is a simple picture book (The Bean Seed) for children learning to trust adults again after maltreatment.
Robert has presented numerous times at the national ATTACH conference. He currently provides regular phone and video consultations to other therapists working with very difficult wounded children and their families, and provides agencies with case consultations, assessments and recommendations.
