PhDr. Petra Vrtbovská PhD (1965)


Petra lives in Prague (Czech Republic). Petra originally studied pedagogy, literature and visual art, and had extensive experience as a teacher at secondary schools. Later she continued her studies in applied psychology and comparative science (PhD).

Since 2000 she has focused on counseling and psychotherapy, she specialized in developmental psychology a early trauma. She is also certified in Motivational Interviewing (2002), and in Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor Psychotherapy (2010).

In 2003 she established an Institute for Family Care Development called Natama.  Natama focuses on therapeutic parenting, especially in the foster care and adoptive families. Petra has got practice with therapeutic work with children, families and parents as individuals.

DDP is one of the most important therapeutic tools she uses in her practice. Petra develops special approaches for work with very institutionalized children. She also applies DDP principles in her work with adults.

Petra wrote or co-wrote two books:

  • Pesso A., Boyden-Pesso D., Vrtbovska P. Introduction to PBSP (in relation to neurobiology and attachment theory), SCAN – Tisnov 2009
  • Vrtbovska P. About the Lost Child (attachment, attachment disorders and therapy), SCAN – Tisnov 2010

Petra is an active painter; she has exhibited her oil paintings four times in Prague and once in the USA.
