Mervin Maier, MA, MFT

Mervin Maier, MA, MFT has been a licensed therapist since 1975. In that time he has worked in many therapeutic domains, including non-profit community based counseling agencies, private practice and residential treatment. Of his 13 years of residential treatment for adolescents, the last 7 years were spent working and living in Italy.  His experience in Italy has deeply influenced his work with families and his understanding of the importance of nurturing the family structure.

Since returning to the United States (Sonoma County, California) in 1995 Mervin renewed his work in community agencies and for 8 years was Program Director for LifeWorks which provides therapeutic services to emotionally disturbed students in Sonoma County Office of Education classrooms.  The last 5 years he has concentrated solely on private practice where he serves individuals, families and couples.

He serves on non-profit boards and provides volunteer training and consultation to professionals and the community. Mervin is a consultant to therapists that provide pro-bono long-term psychotherapy counseling to Sonoma County foster children.

Mervin Maier is married, has two adult children and lives in West Sonoma County.
