Application Criteria to be Grandparented in as a
Certified Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapist
If a therapist meets the following criteria, the therapist may apply (there is a deadline) to be grand parented in as a certified Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapist:
1. The applicant had a beginning level training beginning in 2004 or earlier and has been incorporating Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy into the applicant's practice since then.
2. Since 2004 the applicant has taken an intermediate level of training. This would not have to be a 4-5 day course at one time but the equivalent of an intermediate level, including at least four group supervision days.
3. Since 2004 the applicant has shown at least two DVD's for consultation to someone who is now a certified consultant of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (not necessarily certified at the time of showing.)
4. The applicant will now send one DVD for review to four Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Certified consultants, one of whom is the chairperson of the Board. This DVD requirement is to insure that the applicant has the basic skills and is demonstrating those skills in practice. If the four certified consultants agree that the applicant has met the qualifications to be a certified Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy therapist, the applicant would become certified. If they did not agree, the applicant could pursue the standard application process or a modified process dependent upon the recommendations of the four consultants and approval by the Board.
5. Payment of $200 (USD) application fee prior to sending in the DVD's for review.
This grand parenting application process will be placed on the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute website and the application to receive the grand parenting fast track process needs to be submitted by January 1, 2010. Following that date, starting application for the grand parenting option will no longer be an option.
